The Drone Machine is a 4 oscillator noise maker that is controlled by a joystick. I’ve had this basic circuit built for a while and I’ve been working on finding a type of housing and control mechanism that would make if fun and useful. The joystick, along with a couple other additions has made this one of my favorites.
The joystick has 4 SPDT micro switches that trigger in each direction. I have it wired to switches that allow you to change them between open or closed switches…. Activating the oscillator or muting it. You can have any combination of of them set.
The pitch of each oscillator can be changed using a knob, or by a photo-resistor. There’s a strobe circuit included that can be directed at the photo-resistors.
I’ve also included an effects section that have overdrive, fuzz and ring mod effects. These affects can be varied using a knob or through body contacts mounted on the the front. The amount of different sounds this thing produces is amazing… Anything from simple 8-bit sounding beeps and melodies, to full on chaotic screeches, growls, dirty grungy noises.
Check the sounds samples and video for a demo.
